This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you play Smash Tide (the “Game”) on iPhone and iPad, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. The Game is developed and published by JumpBox (“we”, “us”, “our”). Please read it together with our Terms of Service.
The short version
- The Game has no accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or precise location.
- Your progress, coins, lives, boosters, balls and settings are saved on your device only.
- The Game is free to play and shows ads (Google AdMob, and possibly Unity Ads in the future). Ad partners collect device and usage information to show and measure ads. Ads are personalised only if you allow tracking when iOS asks you.
- We use Google Firebase to understand how the Game is played and to find and fix crashes.
- In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment card or Apple ID details.
- We do not sell your personal information for money.
1. Information we do not collect
You can play the Game without creating an account or giving us any information about yourself. The Game does not ask for, and we do not collect:
- your name, email address, phone number or postal address;
- your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or files;
- your precise (GPS) location;
- your payment card details or Apple ID password.
2. Game data stored on your device
To keep your game going, the Game saves the following data locally on your device:
- your progress (levels reached and won, rewards collected);
- your coins, lives and life timers, boosters (rockets and bombs), periods of unlimited lives, and the balls you own and use;
- whether you have purchased No Ads;
- your settings (sound, music and vibration).
This data stays on your device. We do not upload it to our own servers, and we do not currently offer cloud saving. If you delete the Game, this data is deleted with it and cannot be recovered by us (a No Ads purchase can be restored with Restore Purchases in the Game’s Settings).
3. Information collected by services we use
The Game uses software development kits (“SDKs”) from the companies below. These SDKs collect some information automatically from your device when you play. Each company handles that information under its own privacy policy, as well as under its agreement with us.
3.1 Advertising – Google AdMob (and Unity Ads, if we add it)
The Game shows ads between levels and offers optional reward videos (for example, to continue a level with extra balls, to get an extra life, or to double a reward). To show, limit, measure and protect ads, our ad partners may collect:
- Device identifiers: the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) only if you allow tracking, and the Identifier for Vendors (IDFV) or similar identifiers created by the SDK;
- Device and network information: device model, operating system and version, language, time zone, screen size, mobile carrier, connection type, and IP address (from which an approximate location such as country or city may be inferred);
- Ad interaction data: which ads were requested and shown, whether you watched, closed or tapped them, and how long they were displayed;
- Diagnostics: SDK performance and error information.
Learn more: Google Privacy Policy · How Google uses information from apps that use its services. If we add Unity Ads, see the Unity Privacy Policy for game players. We will update this policy before adding any other ad network.
3.2 Analytics and crash reporting – Google Firebase
- Firebase Analytics collects a random app-instance identifier, information about your device (model, OS version, language, approximate location derived from your IP address), and how you use the Game (for example: first open, sessions and their length, levels started, won or lost, boosters used, ads watched, items purchased and in-game currency spent). We use this to understand what players enjoy, balance difficulty and improve the Game.
- Firebase Crashlytics collects crash and error reports: the state of the Game and device at the time of a crash (stack traces, device model, OS version, free memory and disk space, orientation) and a random installation identifier. We use it only to find and fix problems.
- If we use other Firebase features such as Remote Config (to adjust game settings without an update) or Cloud Messaging (notifications – only if you allow notifications on your device), they use a random Firebase installation identifier.
We do not use Firebase to identify you personally. Learn more: Privacy and Security in Firebase.
3.3 In-app purchases – Apple
All purchases in the Game (coin packs, bundles and No Ads) are made through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your payment card details or Apple ID credentials. To deliver what you bought, the Game receives confirmation of the transaction from Apple (the product, a transaction identifier, the date and the storefront). Apple’s handling of your data is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
4. How information is used
- to run the Game and keep your progress on your device;
- to deliver and restore your purchases;
- to show ads (including optional reward videos) and to give you the reward you chose to watch an ad for;
- to measure ad performance and prevent ad fraud;
- to understand how the Game is played and improve levels, difficulty, features and the store;
- to detect, investigate and fix crashes, bugs and security problems;
- to comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
5. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar laws)
If the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR or a similar law applies to you, we rely on:
- Consent – for personalised advertising and, where the law requires consent, for analytics and for accessing information on your device. You can withdraw consent at any time (see section 6).
- Performance of a contract – to provide the Game and deliver the items you purchase.
- Legitimate interests – to keep the Game stable and secure (crash reporting), to show non-personalised ads that fund the free Game, to prevent fraud and to improve the Game. We balance these interests against your rights, and you can object (see section 12).
- Legal obligation – where we must keep or disclose information by law.
6. Tracking, personalised ads and your choices
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS). The Game asks for your permission before your IDFA may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised based on tracking. You can change this at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking on your device.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland. We show a consent message (provided through Google’s consent tools) before personalised ads or other uses that require consent. You can review or change your choices at any time through the privacy options in the Game.
- No Ads. Buying No Ads removes the ads shown between levels. Optional reward videos remain available only if you choose to watch them.
- Notifications. If the Game ever sends notifications, they are sent only if you allow them, and you can turn them off in your device settings.
- Deleting the Game deletes your on-device game data and resets the Firebase app-instance identifier for that installation.
7. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information for money. Information is shared only:
- with the service providers described in section 3 (Google, Apple and, if added, Unity), who process it to provide their services to us and, for advertising, as independent companies under their own policies;
- if required by law, court order or a valid request from a public authority, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our players, ourselves or others;
- with a buyer or successor if the Game or our business is sold, merged or transferred, in which case this policy will continue to protect the information.
Under some US state laws (such as California’s), allowing ad partners to use device identifiers for personalised advertising may count as “sharing” or “selling” personal information. You can opt out at any time by choosing Ask App Not to Track or turning off Allow Apps to Request to Track on your device; then no tracking-based ads are shown to you.
8. How long information is kept
- On-device game data is kept until you delete the Game.
- Firebase Analytics data linked to the app-instance identifier is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically; aggregated reports that do not identify any device may be kept longer.
- Firebase Crashlytics crash reports are kept for 90 days.
- Ad partners keep data for the periods set in their own policies.
- Messages you send us are kept as long as needed to answer you and for our records, usually no longer than 2 years.
9. International transfers
Our service providers operate worldwide, so information may be processed in countries other than yours, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or other mechanisms used by those providers.
10. Security
Information collected by the SDKs is sent over encrypted connections, and access to our analytics and crash dashboards is limited and protected. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect the information we handle.
11. Age requirement and children
The Game is rated 13+ and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the Game and that information about them was collected, contact us and we will take steps to delete it. Players who are under the age of majority where they live should use the Game, and make any purchases, only with the permission of a parent or guardian.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information is processed about you and get a copy of it;
- correct inaccurate information;
- have your information deleted;
- restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect processing that already took place);
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, or of targeted advertising;
- not be treated differently for using these rights;
- complain to your local data protection authority (for example, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA); in the EU, your national supervisory authority).
Because the Game has no accounts, we hold very little information that we can link to you, and the information held by our service providers is tied to random device identifiers rather than your name. The quickest ways to use your choices are the device settings in section 6 and deleting the Game. To make a request, email us at support@jumpbox.io. To help us find the right data, we may ask you for an identifier shown by the Game or your device. We will answer within the time required by the applicable law (for example, within one month under the GDPR).
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the Game or the services it uses change (for example, if we add a new ad network, cloud saving or notifications). The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was last changed. If the changes are significant, we will let you know in the Game or on its App Store page before they take effect.
